"You Print" Blank Graduation Invitations

An economical way to create graduation invitations is to design and print them yourself on your home computer. You can start with a blank sheet of paper or you can buy blank graduation-themed invitations. Your “design” can be anything you want and is only limited by your imagination.

If you use a blank sheet of paper your invitation can be any size up to 8.5 ” x 11″ which is the size of a normal sheet of paper and is usually the largest size your home printer will take. You can use regular paper or you can buy heavier or fancier stock like parchment paper at your local office supply store.

Blank graduation-themed invitations come in a variety of sizes including 8.5″ x 11″ letterhead, 5.5″ x 7.75″ flat card invitations, 5.5″ x 8.5″ 2-up invitations (you print 2 invitations per 8.5″ x 11″ sheet), and 3.875″ x 9.25″ slim invitations. Graduation-themed letterhead is usually a little heavier than regular printer paper. Other blank graduation-themed invitations are usually card stock quality.

You can also buy colored or graduation-themed envelopes to match the invitations you design yourself or the blank graduation-themed invitations. Envelopes come in a variety of sizes as well – 9.5″ x 4.125″ #10 regular or open-end envelopes for letterhead and slim invitations, 8″ x 5.75″ flat card envelopes for flat card invitations, and 9″ x 6″ envelopes for 2-up invitations.

GraduationParty.com offers a wide variety of blank graduation-themed letterhead and invitations as well as envelopes.

When you buy blank invitations to print yourself make sure you buy a few extra so you can print a test invitation or two and in case some get caught or jammed in your printer.

If you’re not sure how to print an invitation that’s 5.5″ x 7.75″ or a 2-up invitation you can go to GraduationParty.com which has links to printing tips and templates that will guide you through the process and help you create a professional looking invitation. Just go to the “You Print” Invitations page and click on the invitation style you’re looking for (eg: Flat Card Invitations, 2-Up Invitations, etc). Near the top of the page for each style there is a link called “Printing Tips & Templates”. Just click on this link and you will have all the tips and hints you need to create your invitation. Go ahead and practice on a regular sheet of paper before you buy your blank invitations.

When you design your invitation don’t forget to include your grad’s full name (you’d be surprised how many people forget this!), the date and time of your graduation party and the location. Unless your party is a formal, sit down event don’t bother with an RSVP. Most people won’t reply anyway. When you type the text you can change the font style and font color if you want. Color is more expensive to print so consider the additional cost before you add a lot of color. You can even include a photo or two of your grad if you like. Think about whether you want to print the photo(s) in color or black & white. Remember … color will be more expensive.

Once you have your invitation designed print it on regular paper first. Make sure it prints properly before you use your blank graduation invitations.

When printing your invitations you can print them on your home computer & printer or you can bring them to your local office supply store. If you print them on your home computer start slow and load a few sheets at a time to make sure your printer doesn’t jam. If you don’t have a good quality printer or if you don’t want to go through the trouble of printing the invitations yourself you can take your Word file (or file from whatever software you used to design your invitation) and your blank invitations to your local office supply store (Fedex Office, Office Depot, Office Max, etc) and have them print your invitations. Make sure they print a test first so you can see what the end result will look like before they print all your invitations. Having an office supply store print your invitations is a good option if you include color photos as color cartridges can get used up pretty fast on your home computer.

If you’re planning to take your file and blank invitations to an office supply store for printing make sure you use a common software program to create your file. Word processing software like Microsoft Word or Mac Word is best. If you use some obscure software the office supply store may not be able to open and use your file.
